TENGIZ 2013-2014

It was one of the largest fields ever discovered. Its production has currently doubled.

Tengiz in Kazakistan, operated by Chevron through its subsidiary Tengizchevroil, has completed extension works which lasted 5 years and had a cost of $ 7.200.000.000. This project raised field production capacity from about 310.000 to 540.000 barrels per day.

The Tengiz field can be counted among the 10 first production fields in the world. It covers about 218 squared miles (565 sqkm) – which correspond approximately to Chicago surface, Illinois.

Inside the reservoir, oil is mixed with “acid gas”, which is a hydrocarbon gas with a high concentration of toxic hydrogen sulphide. Acid gas is then transformed in gas for sale, NGLs and elemental sulphur which is marketed to produce fertilizers and other products.

The exceptional dimensions of this project represent an important stimulus for Albizzati Spa, which will contribute with the construction of special size discharge lines by assuring compliance with Customer’s requirements in terms of plant performances and lifespan.
